Lola is half Dutch half Spanish. When someone came up with the idea that to sadness we should add a touch of colour, that someone had Lola in mind. She plays a tune with the exact colour tones missing in each situation. Every brand, every place, every page. The eyes listen to a chorus of harmony and colour melodies composed by her.
Lola works in branding, inventing spaces of light in which companies find their own place.
Lola is a multidisciplinary designer, trained at the
Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam and at
Fábrica di Oliviero Toscani, in Italy.
In her career, Lola has worked at the graphic design studio
David Ruiz+Marina Company and in the branding company,
Saffron.
Lola has had her own design studio in Helsinki, Noralola,
with Finnish illustrator-partner Nora Fleming, and a design
consultancy in Madrid, Stuff design consultants,
together with Olga Kolotouchkina.
Nora & Lola designed a product collection for Marimekko in
2000. A collection of promotional products designed by Lola was sold at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.
She has also worked with the
Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum on a gourmet
line of products with its own brand:
In 2007, Lola was appointed to the jury of the
prestigious Aguja de Oro international fashion
award.
